A 12-hour yellow heavy rain warning is in place for Coventry and Warwickshire as the heatwave is officially over. The Met Office warning has been issued for the whole of the West Midlands region today (September 12).

It warns of 'heavy rain perhaps causing some flooding and disruption in places' until 1pm. The weather experts say it could cause spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.

Bus and train services will probably affected with journey times taking longer and there is a chance of flooding. The warning signals the end of the recent September heatwave.

While the rain is not set to last all week, there will be more showers and the temperature will feel a lot cooler compared to last week. The latest full forecast for the week is as follows:

Today

A cloudy day for most with heavy rain moving eastward during the morning. Generally drier with lighter rain later in the afternoon. Possibly brightening up later in the west. Maximum temperature 18C.

Tonight

Becoming dry this evening with increasingly lengthy clear periods overnight. Turning quite chilly with patchy mist developing in the countryside. Minimum temperature 8C.

Wednesday

Any mist soon clearing, then a dry day with warm sunny spells. Possibly turning a little cloudier through the afternoon. Becoming breezier overnight with some rain possible by the morning. Maximum temperature 19C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday

Some rain at times through this period, generally light and showery at first, but possibly heavier and more widespread by Saturday. Feeling cooler compared to of late.
