Aaron Ashmore used to love writing as a child and always had a creative spark - but it wasn't until 2017 that he unleashed his talent. The author who was born and bred in Coventry has now penned 10 books based on his home town to help younger audiences understand and celebrate the city.

The father has worked on the books alongside his eight-year-old son Oscar and together they wrote a book called 'The Time Travelling Coventry Taxi'. The book looks at a Coventry which is different in the future.

For every book that is released, Aaron donates 1,000 books to schools in the city. Some of the schools have then given a copy to all of their classes and also put them in their libraries.

And to keep up the working, some schools are also basing part of their curriculum around Aaron's books for the children to learn about the history of Coventry. The books cover a wide range of subjects such as events and sport, but Coventry is at the heart of all them.

''What I have really tried to do is promote people doing things with their family at home, whether that is a sticker album or a car game or a jigsaw or, most recently, the children's books," Aaron said. "I want to get people away from tablets and screens and do things with their families.

"I am trying to inspire people at a young age to be proud of being from Coventry. I remember when I was at school the books were just all about the Blitz, but I think there is much much more to the city that just wartime Coventry'.'

Aaron's son Oscar expressed how much he loved working on the book with his dad and loves what they have made.

''I have loved working on this book with my dad. We have spent a long time working on it and I love what we have made," he said. "I'm glad that people like it and we are looking forward to releasing another book together about the Time Travelling Taxi in the future."
