Coventry City boss Mark Robins has revealed yet more bad news on the injury front that will see three of the team’s key players out for up to two months. Kasey Palmer is the latest Sky Blues casualty, with the playmaker having suffered the same adductor tear injury as influential midfielder Ben Sheaf.

That comes on top of Milan van Ewijk suffering a torn quad muscle against Cardiff last Tuesday night. The initial prognosis for how long the wing-back would be on the sidelines was unclear on Friday, but scan results have confirmed that the Dutch player will be out for six-eight weeks.

Cursing and reflecting on City’s bad luck, Robins explained Palmer's absence from Monday night's matchday squad saying: “Kasey is injured and going to be out for six-eight weeks. He’s got an adductor tear and I don’t know when he did it. It’s the same injury as Ben Sheaf. He’s done it in a game but I don’t know when. Ben did his in training. Milan did his in a game.

"They are talking six-eight weeks for all three of them, so there’s the dilemma. If you lose three key players from the squad it causes you an issue. But we’re going to have to deal with it.”

Elsewhere, the City manager revealed that striker Haji Wright was also carrying a ‘knock’ from the Cardiff game, albeit the USA international able to make the matchday squad against Huddersfield on Monday night when he contributed from the bench in the 1-1 CBS Arena draw.

“Haji got a whack on his hamstring last week and missed training but then came back and has trained for a couple of days,” he said. “But I just decided I was going to start Ellis in this one. And I thought he did pretty well, looked quite sharp in there and deserved his start.”
