He's the thrill-seeking four-year-old inspiring a baby-faced generation of youngsters to take up riding. It's been pedal to the metal for little Harley Beckett since his parents gave him a balance bike at little more than 12-months-old.

Today, he competes against boys far older - and taller - than him in a range of disciplines including BMX, motocross and mountain biking. His high-octane journey on two wheels has been documented every step of the way on his Rockstar Harley YouTube channel which happens to boast close to 600 videos and 1.25 million subscribers.

Proud parents Rohan and Billy, self-confessed adrenaline junkies, say Harley's social media channels started out as a bit of fun, but are now used as platforms to educate and inspire people across the country. "We kept sending photos of Harley on his bikes to our friends in lockdown, but they said 'stop spamming us'!" Rohan said.

"So we set up an Instagram account and a YouTube Channel so people could watch his videos if they wanted. They got a couple hundred of views, nothing big, until one went viral and that was it. It set the ball rolling for all his social media."

Rohan, 35, added: "People have been asking how he started, what kit he wears and how he does certain things. We try to talk people through things or create a video that explains it. He really is inspiring more kids to start riding."

Harley, whose family home is just outside Coventry, was always going to be named after the legendary type of (Harley-Davidson) bike his dad used to own, 'whether he was a girl or a boy'. And he's living up to his name after first gracing an electric 'revvi' bike at 19-months-old; when most kids are trying to master walking.

And while there are safer past-times than the white knuckle ones enjoyed by Harley - who counts Fasttraxx, just off the M6, VIP MotoCross in Crick, and Adrenaline Alley in Corby among his favourite haunts - mum Rohan takes reassurance from his progressive background in riding. "A lot of kids get on motocross bikes without going on a revvi and they don't have the balance or throttle control," she said.

"Because he started so young he has so much awareness of what's around him. That's something we try to get over to parents.

"He wears a lot of protective gear. He always wears a full face helmet and a riding suit with body armour and pads. It's all about keeping him as safe as we can.

"He very rarely crashes because we don't let him try things we don't think he can do. Everything is very calculated. Sometimes I hold his jersey as he goes round if he's doing something new."

Perfectionist Harley loves making the videos that are posted online, with his Instagram account now boasting over 158,000 followers. And, as well as starring in them, he likes to influence the way in which they are shot!

"He tells me how to film them and where to stand," Rohan added. "So, he's the star and the director too!

"We still can't get over how popular the videos have been. He reached 1.25million subscribers on YouTube this week. He's just a local boy on a bike - what's the fascination?!"
