Coventry City supporters have been reacting to the news that Gustavo Hamer is due to undergo a medical at Sheffield United after the two clubs agreed a £15 million fee.

The 26-year-old is set to leave the CBS Arena and will not train with Mark Robins and his first team squad today, as he seals a move to the Premier League. The departure will come as a big loss for the Sky Blues, who also saw Viktor Gyokeres leave earlier this summer.

Generally, the mood is one of sadness, though nobody is begrudging Hamer a move to the Premier League. Many fans also have confidence in City to reinvest the money wisely in the transfer market. Below is a look at what supporters are saying online.

@harryyywildeee1 : Look how well we did signing players with the Vik money, January transfer window is looking exciting.

@pwindle : Not sure Sheff Utd is a great move for Gus, another Premier League team would have surely come knocking. What a fantastic player he has been for us. One of our best in a very long time.

@jmak316 : Hamer gone but I remember when Dion went to Villa. This one hurts but trust me it ain’t that bad.

@dwcskyblue : I’m sure MR will have tried everything to keep Gustavo, obviously the player wanted to go. It is disappointing but that’s the way it goes. We move on.

@MavvyTV : I’ve followed Coventry City every single week since I was 6. I’m now 33. We’ve had some quality over the years, but Hamer is one of the best to put the shirt on in my lifetime. All the best, Gus. You deserve the Premier League, but my god, we’ll miss you.

@whatjamietweets : Can’t blame Hamer for taking the chance to play in the Premier League. He’s been phenomenal for us though and will be such a shame to see him go!

@__sampatterson : This one really hurts. Gustavo Hamer is the best player I’ve seen don the shirt of Coventry City. An absolute pleasure to watch throughout his time with us. So many great moments that’ll live long in the memory. Thank you, Gus.

@dannymcd93 : Hoping Brighton hijack this deal, he's far too good for the blades, but he has my blessing either way. Best player to wear the shirt for me. Thanks for the memories Gus.
