Hillfields

Hillfields is a residential suburb in Coventry just to the northeast of the city centre. It is within the council’s St Michael’s Ward. Several factories involved in Coventry’s once-booming motor industry were based in Hillfields, which was heavily damaged in the Coventry Blitz and redeveloped into housing. Hillfields is the location of the city’s red light area and also home to Coventry City Football Club’s former stadium in Highfield Road. The Specials singer Neville Staple lived in Hillfields. Hillfields has high levels of deprivation, with rioting in the area in 1992.
