Access to a Coventry city centre church has been made a lot easier following a make-over. Issues with use of the car park at Bethel Church in Spon End are now a thing of the past.

It follows work that has been carried out during the summer by construction company, Balfour Beatty. The firm, which has been behind the road widening to remove a pinch point in Spon End and a remodelling of junction 7, agreed to tarmac the whole area,

The new-look car park has made a huge difference according to Joshua Kindness, Pastor at Bethel Church, who said: "We can’t thank Balfour Beatty enough for their generosity in resurfacing the church car park. This will have such a positive impact for all the community groups that use the church and for the wider community who make use of the car park as well."

It was the latest community project undertaken by the firm, which included donations given to local food hubs, equipment donated to the British Heart Foundation and planters created at Spon Gate House. Councillor David Welsh, Coventry City Council cabinet member for housing and communities, said: "It was great to visit Bethel Church and see the improvements.

"There have been many examples of companies and businesses offering support to local community projects across Coventry and this is yet another positive example. I’d like to pass on my thanks to Balfour Beatty. Our community team at the council are always happy to make connections between businesses and community projects."
