Forecasters have predicted an Indian summer is on the cards as glorious sunshine is set to return. However, there will be rain and gales hitting the UK beforehand.

The Mirror has reported that September is set to be hit by cooler temperatures and showers. But the sunshine is set to make a comeback on or around Monday October 2, when temperatures will again be above average for the time of year.

Ian Simpson, forecaster for independent team Netweather, wrote on its blog: "It looks probable that we will see one or two relatively settled interludes early on in the period with ridges of high pressure moving in, most likely from the south.

"Temperatures are likely to be above normal early in the period, but trending average to fairly cool late in the period. It will probably be drier than average for most, particularly in the west and north-west."

Coventry and Warwickshire has felt the start of what feels like autumnal weather this week with decidedly cooler temperatures and rain this week. Today (September 13) is set to be drier but the rain is set to return tomorrow and into the weekend.
