JD Sports has confirmed that its new Coventry store will open later this year. CoventryLive reported that the sports giant is taking over the old New Look units at the Arena Shopping Park.

Huge posters have appeared in the front windows of the former fashion chain to announce that JD Sports is opening a new store. Now a spokesperson for the national name has confirmed to us that the store is set to open in the fourth quarter of this year, which would indicate a date between October and December. They went on to add that further details will be released soon.

In the meantime, the hunt to find people to work at the new store continues. The posters on the front of the new store say that staff and management are needed, and contain a QR code where people can get more information about the recruitment drive and how to apply.

The new Arena Shopping Park branch will be JD Sports' second in the city as it already has a large store at the West Orchards Shopping Centre. Elsewhere in our region there are JD Sports stores in Rugby as well as in Leamington Spa.

Several years ago the firm had planned to open a branch in the Ropewalk Shopping Centre in Nuneaton but then it pulled out.
