A gang chased a man into a Nuneaton restaurant, throwing chairs and punches at him before chaos continued outside. The mob, of between 10 and 15 people, reportedly followed the man from by McDonald's in Queens Road last night (June 28).

They chased him into Piero Lounge in Market Place, throwing chairs and punches. The violence then spilled out into the street again as frightened restaurant staff locked the doors to protect themselves and diners.

They also raised the alarm with police, and officers arrived at the scene and found the victim had suffered minor injuries. A search of the area led to officers arresting a 19-year-old from Nuneaton on nearby Coton Road.

He was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in police custody today, Thursday, June 29.
