Wilko has a number of tempting half price deals on its website as the struggling homeware chain looks to bring in vital revenue. The retailer, founded in Leicester way back in the 1930s, filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators at the High Court yesterday, Thursday, August 3.

Wilko, which operates around 400 shops, now faces entering insolvency after failing to secure a takeover to help with “mounting cash pressures”. Around 12,000 jobs across the UK, including dozens at the firm's two stores in Coventry and outlets in Kenilworth, Nuneaton and Leamington Spa, could be at risk.

The company said it had “no choice” but to file for the potential insolvency though it will continue a possible rescue takeover. The firm will also continue to bring in as much money as it in can through sales, both in-store and online.
