A mum's best-laid plans for a 'perfect' manor house wedding lie in ruins after the venue closed - without the owner, she says, even notifying her. Jenna Brennan says she was told her big day would no longer be held at Catthorpe Manor, near Rugby, not by the hotel's management, but by the firm supplying her bridal dresses.

And mum-of-three Jenna says she risks losing a £750 deposit on the hotel at a time when her partner's job in construction has been put at risk of redundancy. LWT Trading, which runs Catthorpe Manor, confirmed in a statement on Monday the hotel had ceased trading with immediate affect and that all future bookings had been cancelled.

But no one at the operating company has ever been in touch with Jenna or her future husband Michael Bullock, she says. "It's a little bit heartbreaking really," Jenna, 36, told CoventryLive. "We girls all have our dreams and mine feels like it's been shattered.

"If it wasn't for my wedding dress supplier I might not have known even now. I'm really quite angry about it. I can't believe a business could be so unprofessional about how it handles things.

"A lot of businesses are going into administration at the moment. Sadly, it's a sign of times. If they had been honest and just let us know I wouldn't be so upset. It wouldn't have hit so hard."

The 36-year-old added: "I'd always dreamed of a manor house wedding. When they showed me the outdoor area and where I'd be walking, it just fit and was almost perfect. That would have been my perfect wedding day. I could not have asked for any more."

In its statement, LWT Trading said clients who had booked functions at the hotel using a credit card would be covered by credit indemnity insurance and will receive a refund. But having paid with a debit card, Jenna stands to lose all of her deposit.

"We are really struggling and this is all happening at a time when Michael's job has been put up for redundancy," she said. "I'm an over-thinker and a big worrier so I've not been sleeping.

"I keep thinking I've been getting all these things ready for a wedding at Catthorpe Manor and it's not going to happen. And how many other people has this happened to?"

Jenna and Michael, who live in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, have already booked a photographer, videographer, registrar and DJ as well as hair and make-up specialists for the bridal party. Not all are willing to switch to either of the two locations the couple has been looking at as a replacement venue for their big day next July.

Catthorpe Manor had been a partner venue for wedding planner business Bespoke Weddings. Jenna, a massage and beauty therapist, said Bespoke Weddings had greatly helped her 36-year-old Michael put together a Plan B. "We initially approached Bespoke Weddings because we didn't think we could afford our dream wedding without them," she said.

"I can't really fault Bespoke Weddings. They've really helped us find an alternative venue. We're definitely going to get married. At the moment we just don't know where or when."

LWT Trading told CoventryLive that finding contact details for people who had booked the hotel for weddings and other functions was especially difficult given no staff were on the ground to liaise with. Leslie East, a director at the Leicestershire-based company, previously said: "We would have loved to have written to every single booker, but we didn't have their details."
