Nuneaton Borough's ground record is set to be smashed as they play their last game in the National League North.

The current record attendance at Liberty Way is 3,480 - but with champions-elect Stockport County FC set to bring at least 3,000 fans, it is set to be a huge game for the borough for many reasons.

Such was the demand for tickets from The Hatters that they sold out their initial allocation, so the Boro have released more.

This means that, as the curtain comes down on the Boro's last game in the Vanarama National League North, it should also be a bumper day financially.

Such a windfall will help the once troubled Boro in its quest to rebuild as the team prepares to start next season in a lower league, likely to be the Southern league Premier Central.

But the fact that the club staved off what many thought was inevitable financial ruin and going bust, following a 'save our club' appeal, manager and acting chairman Jimmy Ginnelly wants to make Saturday's match one to remember.

"This weekend is going to be huge, Stockport are going for the title and they could be bringing 3,000-plus fans down for this one," he said.

"We have a number of events going on both in and outside of the ground, We have a band on, we have a number of things going on and it should be a great day for everyone.

"I want everyone to come down on Saturday and celebrate that fact and make it a real good atmosphere.

"Let's all enjoy the day, enjoy the football and end the season on a high note."
