Police have executed a warrant at a premises suspected of being involved in modern-day slavery in Coventry. Officers recently raided a site in Foleshill.

Cops from the WMP Serious Organised Crime and Exploitation Team visited a site on Foleshill Road on Thursday, September 21. A warrant was carried out alongside the British Red Cross, the Medaille Trust, Coventry City Council and the West Midlands Anti-Slavery Network.

Two people were identified as being of concern but were confirmed as working legally, so they were returned shortly afterwards to the site, said West Midlands Police. Officers say investigations remain ongoing to find out if more potential "victims" are involved.

A spokesman for Coventry Police said: “We are continuing our investigation to find out if more potential victims are involved, and anyone concerned modern-day slavery is happening where they live can contact us via Live Chat or 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers.

“Modern-day slavery involves people being trafficked to the UK and being forced to work illegally. Often, this is in the form of low or unpaid work such as car washing, but can also range from supervising cannabis farms to prostitution.

“We continue to carry out warrants and take action against people trafficking and modern-day slavery, but we need your help to report it. If you think it is happening where you live, visit https://www.west-midlands.police.uk/your-options/modern-slavery to find out more about your options.”
