Popular bargain-buy brand The Range has confirmed when it plans to open its latest store in Warwickshire. The multi-channel retailer will launch its store at Leamington Shopping Park in Tachbrook Park Drive on Friday, December 1.

Earlier this year Warwick District Council approved The Range's plans to combine two vacant shops into one large unit at the site. Submitted by real estate firm Abrdn, the planning application detailed how the rear of the two empty shops would be turned into a garden centre for the store.

The units, previously occupied by Argos and Outfit, will reportedly have a new mezzanine floor built. The application also included analysis of other retailers in Warwick, Leamington Spa and Kenilworth, saying how the opening of The Range would not impact trade at other businesses.

"The proposals are not considered to harm the vitality and viability of the town centre," a WDC report had said. "Furthermore the proposals would have an acceptable impact on the character and appearance of the area and on the operation of the service yard."

The Range opened its first store in Plymouth in 1989 and now has over 200 stores nationwide, including two in Coventry and one in Rugby. The firm has agreed a £5 million deal to buy the Wilko brand, meaning it will take over the company's website and could start to stock Wilko products.
