Snapshots of 1980s Coventry from a 'Dirty Stop Out'
Busters, the Lanch, punks and more
The BMX bursts onto the scene, shoulder pads are a must, and the first somewhat "mobile" phones are launched. Welcome back to the 1980s.
We all know the stereotypes of the decade, of course, but what was life like here in the 80s? The photos below might jog your memory, and bring all of those good times flooding back.
These snaps are from the Dirty Stop Out's Guide to 1980s Coventry written by Ruth Cherrington, remembering a "unique period in the city’s music and after-dark history". It's packed with interviews, memories and pictures about pubs, clubs, bands and culture, along with some enormous moments like the famous FA Cup win of 1987.
Take a look at a sample of pictures from the book below. And see more on the Dirty Stop Outs website here.
