A motorcyclist has died following a fatal collision in Rugby. It happened on Boughton Road on Friday, August 25.

Paramedics and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were called to the scene at around 6.15pm. A motorbike was involved in a collision with a stationary car at the junction of Boughton Road and Hollowell Way.

A man, aged in his 40s, was found in a critical condition and received advanced life support at the scene in Rugby. He was pronounced dead a short time later, said West Midlands Ambulance Service. His family have been informed and a post-mortem will also take place, said Warwickshire Police.

A full investigation has now been launched by Warwickshire Police. Anyone with information or who witnessed the collision has been urged to call 101.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “Were you driving or walking along Boughton Road in Rugby on Friday (August 25)? We are appealing for witnesses after a motorbike is understood to have collided with a stationary car where the road meets Hollowell Way at around 6.20pm.

“Officers attended along with the ambulance service but the motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was declared deceased. His next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers at this time. A post-mortem is set to take place in due course.

“Enquiries are currently ongoing and we are keen to hear from anyone who saw the collision, has footage of it, or can help with our enquiries. Anyone with information should contact the force quoting incident number 297 of August 25.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a motorbike that had collided with a stationary car at the junction of Boughton Road and Leicester Road at 6.16pm on Friday (August 25). Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended the scene. An off-duty WMAS technician also stopped at the scene to offer assistance.

“On arrival, we discovered one patient, a man, from the motorbike. He was found to be in a critical condition and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support. However, it sadly became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
