Nuneaton Borough supporters are sharing fond memories as the troubled club enters a critical period in its history.

They have taken to Twitter to share why they love the Boro amid concerns about the future of their beloved club.

Boro fan Ben Bruce posted a question on Twitter, asking fans to share what the club means to them.

This is what some of the supporters said

Lifelong Boro fan Dave Sharpe shared a photograph of him with his dad at the ground, saying: "Spending Saturday afternoons together at the footy like we have done for 45 years."

Even the son of former Boro favourite Terry Angus, Dior Angus, has added his childhood memories.

The current Boro centre forward posted: "My first memories of watching my dad playing, an amazing club that allowed me to meet so many kind and amazing people, now luckily enough to be playing there and trying my best to give something back - SavetheBoro"

Even Bedworth United has thrown its support behind the 'Boro despite the rivalries.

Fan David Platts said it is the time spent with his son supporting the 'Boro hat means the most.

Emma Merideth-Stone posted: "Some of best memories of my youth were going to the Boro with my Dad to watch a game on a Saturday. No matter how long it’s been between games - it’s still always the same dedicated fans who are there now as they were back then. Always feels familiar."

Similar comments were made by Kerry Daffern, who posted: "Not just football but my upbringing revolved around the boro. It was one of the reasons i had such a close bond with my grandad. It is now my grandads place of rest with his ashes being buried in the memorial garden."

HWarren explained how he spent his 21st birthday with his mates, brothers and dad at a 'Boro game:"I don't think anything else needs to be said!:

Nuneaton Boro fans have had their fair share of heartache over the years but now, following concerns about the future of the club, they are rallying to try and save it.

Campaign

The Nuneaton Borough Supporters Co-operative (NBSC) is continuing its Save the Boro campaign to find a desperately needed new owner.

“From what we now know, the club needs people to immediately come on board in order for the club to keep going,” said Mark Axon, acting chair of NBSC.

“The Boro has a rich history, as highlighted in the From Town to Town history project, and to see it in such in such a position is desperately sad.

"If the Boro were to fold it would not only be the loss of a football club, but a loss of the community of fans, staff and players that is built around it.

“We will endeavour to do all we can to save the Boro, and would urge people interested in helping to achieve this to contact us.”

Trouble at the club is well documented with current captain Cameron Belford lifting the lid on the dire situation, saying the players had no access to training facilities or even hot water.

Norman Smurthwaite, the current owner of the ground, said that a new company and a new board has to be in place before the National League board meets on November 1 - or it will fold.

Nuneaton's MP Marcus Jones urged people to turn out to Liberty Way in their droves today (Saturday, October 20) as Boro take on Bradford Park Avenue in a 'use it or lose it' game.

Anyone who is interested in helping the supporters co-operative should either email info@nbfcoop.co.uk or call 07814 663158.
